Last week was a milestone in our journey as an Wirral estate agent and family business. Liam had the privilege of traveling to London to attend an event with the Cabinet Office and the Office for Veterans’ Affairs. In attendance was The Right Honourable Johnny Mercer MP, the current Minister of State for Veterans’ Affairs, alongside guests from the Federation of Small Businesses and X-Forces Enterprise.
As an injured veteran, the transition from military life to the civilian world and in particular as a new business owner was by no means easy. After serving with pride in the Infantry, Liam faced challenges adapting to a life away from the forces. Yet, amid these challenges, he discovered a burning passion – the world of estate agency and what better place to market, sell and buy homes than the Wirral Peninsula.
Launching and nurturing our Wirral estate agency business was not just about creating a livelihood; it provided a platform to create a new purpose and reignited the daily drive needed. It might seem an unusual transition at first glance – from the Infantry to property. However, the discipline, adaptability, tactical planning, and the sheer will to get up and go, attributes Liam had honed in the British Army, became the bedrock of the business. And with these skills, our estate agency has been helping and continue to help the Wirral community find their dream homes and transition to new phases of their lives.
The London event promoted that the military provides invaluable skills acquired during their service – discipline, adaptability, and strategic planning – and channelling them into successful business setting. In the context of our Wirral estate agency, these skills are crucial in understanding the market, how to engage with buyers through different means as well as anticipating and facilitating clients’ needs, ensuring seamless transitions for people moving home.
It was fantastic to learn and network with fellow veterans and corporate giants such as Amazon, Barclays, and Aviva. These industry leaders recognise the unparalleled dedication and skills of veterans, and they’re keen to integrate them into their workforce. The event was also a testament to how the government is actively supporting service personnel as they transition out of the forces.
My journey from a Reconnaissance Operator in the Infantry to a successful Wirral estate agent is a testament to the adaptability and resilience developed and a narrative of harnessing military skills to carve out success in the civilian world.
For those in the Wirral community looking to move home, our estate agency stands ready to assist, applying a proven and strategic marketing strategy with a military ethos at its core.
